A giant bronze statue of Grammy Award-winning singer Shakira has been unveiled in her hometown of Barranquilla, Colombia. She is one of the best-selling musicians in the world.

Details of Shakira statue

The statue depicts Shakira in the iconic belly dancing pose from her popular song Hips Don’t Lie. The 6.5-metre (21-foot) statue was unveiled on Tuesday by the city’s mayor, Jaime Pumarejo, in a park near the banks of the Magdalena River, with the singer’s parents also in attendance.

The sculpture depicts the singer dancing on her belly with long, curly hair, her arms crossed over her head and wearing a transparent skirt with shiny aluminum decorations.

A plaque below praises Shakira and says: “A heart that creates, buttocks that don’t lie, an unmatched talent, a voice that inspires the masses and the barefoot people who work for the well-being of children and humanity.” Let’s work.” Let’s move forward.”Let’s move forward.”

Singer mother and son praised the creator of Sculpture

The creator of the sculpture, Yino Marquez, expressed his joy at the reaction of the public and Shakira’s family after its inauguration this Tuesday. He claimed that the singer’s mother had informed him that God would reward him for his skills as a sculptor.

According to him, Shakira’s son also said that it was the best statue he had ever seen in his life and the singer herself personally called him to tell him that she had captured its essence in her soul. The 52-year-old sculptor said he has been making sculptures since the age of sixteen. He is the academic coordinator of the Academy of Public Art of Barranquilla and has created large sculptures for several cities in Colombia.
