The Big Bang Theory star Kate Micucci has revealed that she has been diagnosed with lung cancer.

On Saturday, Kate Micucci the 43-year-old actress and comedian who played Lucy on the fan-favorite CBS comedy, posted a video on TikTok and shared her diagnosis in the hospital after undergoing surgery to remove the disease.

She said, “Hello everyone, this is not TikTok; this is a ‘Sick Talk’.” “I’m in the hospital but that’s because I had lung cancer surgery yesterday. “They caught it very early.”

“It’s really weird, because I’ve never smoked a cigarette in my life, so, you know, it was a surprise,” Micucci said. “But I also think it happens, and the best news is they caught it early, they took it out, I’m OK.”

Lung cancer becoming a problem in United State

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States, accounting for approximately 1 in 5 of all cancer deaths. Although smoking is by far the leading cause of lung cancer and it is rare to be diagnosed in someone who has never smoked, it is possible.

According to the American Cancer Society, lung cancer in people who do not smoke can be caused by radon exposure, passive smoking, air pollution, or other factors.
When lung cancer is diagnosed in the early stages, 70 percent of patients survive for at least five years. Once lung cancer spreads to other parts of the body, the chances of long-term survival drop to less than five percent.
