Ujjain Horror
The incident of a half-naked and bloody 15-year-old girl wandering from door to door for help after being raped in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, has spread outrage across the country. But 72 hours later, as new details emerge in the case, there are several discrepancies between the police statements and the case documents. The police have also not yet had any success in locating the culprit.
Ujjain Police Finding
Ujjain Police Chief Sachin Sharma said yesterday that the girl was unable to tell her name and address. He had said that his accent showed that he was from Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh, about 850 km away. However, his name and his father’s name are mentioned in the FIR. A senior police officer has now told that the girl is a resident of a district of Madhya Pradesh. She is an eighth-grade student and lives with her grandfather and elder brother. She had gone missing on Sunday, and her family had filed a missing complaint, the police officer said.
According to the latest information by Police , the girl is from a district in Madhya Pradesh, more than 700 kilometers from Ujjain, where she was found. Ujjain police chief Sachin Sharma said that she had left home on Sunday afternoon. Mr Sharma said, “She left for Ujjain on Sunday afternoon. The travel time from her home district to Ujjain is about 12 hours. And the incident was reported the next morning. After reaching Ujjain, she was found roaming on the streets.”
Police had yesterday said that the victim was not able to tell them anything. But the FIR contains her detailed statement in which she tells about the cruelty meted out to her.
According to the FIR, IPC sections related to rape and stringent provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act were invoked based on the victim’s statement. This FIR was registered on Monday.
On one help her
The tragic incident that has caused shock, outrage and outrage came as the partially naked and bleeding girl pleaded for help but was rejected. In the CCTV video, it is clearly seen that a man is shooing her
Eventually she found a Hindu priest, who came to her aid. Rahul Sharma, associated with an ashram on Badnagar Road, about 15 km from Ujjain city, encountered the girl around 9:30 am when he was leaving the ashram for work.
Sharma provided him his clothes. The girl, unable to speak and with swollen eyes, prompted him to call emergency services. When efforts to reach the police through the helpline failed, he contacted the Mahakal police station and apprised them of the serious situation. The police took action against the ashram within 20 minutes.
According to Sharma, although the girl was trying to communicate, her fear was hampering understanding. They inquired about her identity and family, assured her of safety and requested contact details.
Despite her apprehension, the girl trusted Sharma as they waited for the police to arrive. Other people who approached her caused her to seek shelter behind the priest; she began to speak more freely after the police arrived.
The priest noted that the girl made reference to a place, which they could not fully understand.
She was taken to hospital where she was given blood which was donated by the police officer.
