The Beatles movie cast has been announced
The Beatles films have reportedly chosen the Fab Four for solo biopics. Earlier this year, it was announced that Oscar-winning director Sam Mendes, known for Skyfall, Spectre and 1917, would direct four films about the Beatles, each focusing on a different member of the group – John Lennon, Ringo Starr, Paul McCartney, and George Harrison. The ambitious four-part film is expected to begin production in 2025 and be released in 2027.
Mendes has found his stars for his films about the Fab Four. According to InSneider, the Beatles films feature Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr, Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, and Charlie Rowe as George Harrison. The rumours have not been confirmed by Sony, the studio behind the Beatles films.
Sony Pictures Entertainment is financing and releasing all four Beatles films in cinemas worldwide in 2027. The order and release dates have not been announced, but Sony has described the line-up of the four films as “groundbreaking and innovative.” Also read – Sturgill Simpson’s new name, album and ticket details
Mendes is honoured to tell the story of the greatest rock band of all time
The project marks the first time Apple Corps Ltd. and the families of the Beatles – Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and the late John Lennon and George Harrison – have given the full rights to their lives and music for a scripted film.
Announcing the Beatles biopic project, Mendes said, “I am honoured to tell the story of the greatest rock band of all time and am excited to challenge the concept of what a film can be.”
“We want this to be a uniquely thrilling and epic cinematic experience: four films, told from four different perspectives that tell the same story about the most famous band of all time,” Harris added. “It is an incredible privilege to have the blessing of the Beatles and Apple Corps. From our first meeting with Tom Rothman and Elizabeth Gabler it was clear they shared our passion and ambition for this project, and we could think of no better home than Sony Pictures.”
Other music-based films have also gained fame recently, including Taylor Swift’s $15 million concert Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, which grossed $261 million last year.
Meanwhile, Beyoncé’s Renaissance: A Film became the fifth-highest-grossing concert film of all time, according to Forbes.
