Taylor Swift Endorsed Kamala Harris for Presidental Bid in 2024 Election
Pop superstar Taylor Swift endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential bid minutes after the Democratic nominee’s presidential debate against her Republican opponent, Donald Trump.
The pop star said on Instagram that she’s voting for Harris because she “fights for the rights and causes that I believe need a warrior to stand up for them.”
Swift wrote to her 283 million followers that she’s done her research and made her decision. Your research is all yours and the choice is yours. She also wants to say to her fans, especially first-time voters: that to give their vote in the upcoming election, you must be registered. She also finds it much easier to vote early. On her Instagram story, She’ll provide fans with a link to register and find the dates and information to vote early.
Swift signed the post: “Taylor Swift, the childless cat lady,” a reference to the language used by Trump’s running mate, Sen. JD Vance, R-Ohio, to describe women who don’t have children. Swift included a photo of herself holding her cat, Benjamin Button, who appeared on the cover of Time magazine with the singer. Within a few minutes, Swift’s post had garnered more than 2 million likes.
In the Instagram post, Swift also criticized social media users who have circulated AI-generated images falsely claiming she had endorsed the Trump-Vance ticket. Trump shared a series of such images on his Truth Social platform.
Swift’s endorsement came after some of her fans criticized Brittany Mahomes for supporting Trump. Mahomes, a 29-year-old pregnant mother, first indicated her support for Trump on Aug. 13 when she “liked” Trump’s Instagram post outlining the “2024 Republican platform.” Also read – Dave Grohl admits that He cheated and had a baby Outside Marriage
Taylor Swift Support and allow Biden-Harris to use her song
It’s not the first time Swift has endorsed a political candidate. In 2020, Swift endorsed President Joe Biden and Harris, and in 2018, she endorsed U.S. Senate candidate Phil Bredesen and Rep. Jim Cooper in their bid for reelection in Tennessee’s 5th Congressional District. Swift endorsed President Joe Biden and Harris during the 2020 presidential election. Swift allowed the Biden-Harris campaign to use her song “Only the Young” in an ad during the 2020 election cycle.
Swift used to avoid weighing in on American politics, but with the release of her documentary “Miss Americana” in 2020, she became more vocal. The film chronicles her behind-the-scenes fight to publicly denounce Sen. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tennessee, then a member of the House of Representatives. She endorsed Blackburn’s Senate opponent, Phil Bredesen.
Blackburn ultimately won the race, but Swift’s Instagram post encouraging people to register to vote activated waves of young people, Vote.org said at the time.
In November, a national NBC News poll found that 40% of registered voters had positive views of Swift, while 16% had negative views. Most Democrats (53%) viewed her positively, while 28% of Republicans said the same.
