Susan Buckner, known to movie audiences as Grease’s bubbly cheerleader Patty Simcox died peacefully surrounded by loved ones in Miami on May 2.

According to the family’s publicist, Melissa Berthier, “Susan died peacefully surrounded by loved ones on May 2.” No cause of death was given.
Buckner’s daughter, Samantha Mansfield, tells People, “The light she brought to every room will be greatly missed.” “She was magical, and I was so lucky to call her my best friend.”

Born January 28, 1952, in Seattle, Washington, Susan Buckner was crowned Miss Washington in 1971 and represented the state at the Miss America pageant the following year. Soon after, she became one of the Golddiggers dancers on The Dean Martin Show, and this led to her becoming part of the all-girl group Fantasy and musical duo Buckner and Pratt.

She also appeared on Sonny & Cher, The Mac Davis Show, and The Brady Bunch Variety Hour.

Susan Buckner is survived by her daughter Samantha Mansfield, son Adam Joseph, grandchildren Riley, Oliver, Abigail and Ruby, as well as his sister Linda, daughter-in-law Noel Joseph, son-in-law Adam Mansfield and longtime partner Al.

The family requests donations to the Fairchild Tropical Botanical Garden in Miami in Susan’s honour.
