Squid Game Unleashed Debuts First Trailer on Netflix With Deadly New Gameplay
Squid Game Unleashed is a new mobile game that Netflix Game Studio has released in collaboration with Boss Fight and is based on the popular Squid Game series. Ahead of the release of the show’s second season, the gameplay trailer has been officially released. With unique gameplay that follows a similar premise to the series, it has generated a lot of buzz among fans.
What’s in the Squid Game: Unleashed Trailer?
The Squid Game Unleashed trailer begins with what is arguably the most famous gameplay from the entire first season of Squid Game: Red Light, Green Light. The show puts a deadly spin on movement during the red light phase of the children’s classic, and the upcoming game appears to add some platforming elements. It appears that significant variety has been added to Red Light, Green Light in Squid Game: Unleashed simply by altering the ground, from benign obstacles like fake bushes, to new, more dangerous elements like moving buzzsaws and spike-filled pits.
The other games shown in the Squid Game Unleashed trailer appear to take elements from the TV series, but are more original and lean toward the platforming side of the video game medium. Players can be seen dodging traffic like in Frogger, pushing each other off platforms and into lava, and dodging giant swinging piggy banks while running across glass panels similar to those seen in the show’s Glass Stepping Stones competition. Squid Game Season 2 is set to premiere on December 26, 2024, and the story will pick up where it left off in the previous season. Seong Gi Hun abandons his plans to move to the US to meet his daughter and instead decides to expose the organization responsible for running the games.
