Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, Kevin Feige Pay Tribute to Ray Chan
Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman are honoring Marvel Studios’ art director Ray Chan following his death at the age of 56.
Following the announcement of the 56-year-old art director and production designer’s death earlier this week, the costars shared their “devastated” reactions to the loss of Chan, with whom they worked on Deadpool and The Wolverine, in a post on April 26.
The whole Marvel studio is shocked and saddened by the unfortunate passing of Ray Chan, Art Director of the Production Design Department. Hugh Jackman pays tribute to Chan
Hugh Jackman’s statement and claim that the Marvel legend truly created magic – “Rey was unique”.
“I am shocked to hear the sad news about Ray Chan. There was not a single day of shooting when I was not amazed by his creativity. He created magic. This was the feeling in his eyes. The embodiment of a man who loved his art. I have had the privilege of working with some of the best people in the business. Ray was on top!”
Ryan Reynolds pays tribute to Chan
Ryan Reynolds praised Chan in a lengthy post on X, where he considered him a creative force on par with the writer, director, and stars of Deadpool and Wolverine. Reynolds also remembers telling Chan that there was no one like him on Earth and what a good friend Chan was to him.
Kevin Feige’s Tribute to Chan
Marvel president Kevin Feige claimed (via Marvel) that Ray Chan was a very good friend of Marvel Studios and an extremely talented person.
“Ray was first and foremost a good friend to everyone at Marvel Studios. He was a talented collaborator who brought out creativity and attention to detail in every frame of every film he worked on and was able to bring out the best in whatever department he worked on.

According to Variety, Chan was born in 1967 in Greater Manchester, England, where he was raised by parents who immigrated to the United Kingdom from Hong Kong. He attended the Liverpool School of Art where he studied graphic design before marching on a career in film and art.
Chan’s Marvel credits include Guardians of the Galaxy, Doctor Strange, Spider-Man: Far From Home, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, the previous three Avengers films, and Deadpool & Wolverine – starring Reynolds and Jackman – which will be releasing on 26th July.
