Ryan Gosling criticizes Margot and Greta’s Oscar snub
Ryan Gosling has mixed feelings after this year’s Oscar nominees were revealed. One of the biggest snubs was a blow to Barbie, last year’s biggest movie in terms of critical reviews and box office numbers.
While Gosling, 43, earned a Best Supporting Actor nomination Tuesday for his work on Barbie, his thoughts were with Greta Gerwig, who failed to be nominated in the Best Director category, and Margot Robbie, who was left out. . . in the Best Actress category.
In a statement to People, he said: “There is no Ken without Barbie, and there is no Barbie movie without Director Greta Gerwig. Gerwig and Margot Robbie, the two people most responsible for this historic and globally celebrated film.” He explained his disappointment that they are not nominated in their respective categories “would be an understatement.” Also read – Colman Domingo’s Oscar nomination for his portrayal of a civil rights activist in Rustin
Not only Ryan Gosling but also América Ferrera disappointed over nominations
América Ferrera earned a nomination for Best Supporting Role. Gosling congratulated Ferrera and also commented on his nomination for “playing a plastic doll named Ken.”
Like Gosling, Ferrera also shared his disappointment over the nominations, saying that “Greta has done almost everything a director can do to deserve it.”
“To create this world and take something that had no inherent value to most people and turn it into a global phenomenon. It’s disappointing not to see it on that list,” Ferrera added.
