RIP the new Netflix thriller starring Ben Affleck and Matt Damon
Best friends Ben Affleck and Matt Damon have found their next collaboration. The “Air” and “Good Will Hunting” team will star in “RIP,” a new Netflix thriller from writer-director Joe Carnahan.
Ben Affleck and Matt Damon met as neighbors in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and quickly became close friends; As Damon reminded Conan O’Brien in 2019, the future Batman came to his rescue in a schoolyard fight. “I remember it was a great moment,” Damon said. “He will put himself in a really bad situation. This is a good friend.”
Soon, of course, Damon and Affleck ended up in much better places together, winning an Oscar for co-writing Good Will Hunting and then following parallel trajectories to stardom. The pair may seem inseparable, but they have played leading roles together in just a handful of films: Good Will Hunting and Dogma in the ’90s, and more recently The Last Duel and Air, directed by Affleck. The movie will be produced by Artists Equity
Plot details and release date remain under wraps. The film will be produced by Artists Equity, the artist-run studio founded by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon in 2022.
Other Artist Equity projects include “Small Things Like These,” starring Cillian Murphy, a sequel to “The Accountant,” and the Jennifer Lopez-directed films “Kiss of the Spider Woman“ and “Unstoppable.”
What are Affleck and Damon’s recent projects?
Damon recently appeared in Christopher Nolan’s Oscar-winning “Oppenheimer” and Ethan Coen’s “Drive-Away Dolls.” He will next star alongside Affleck’s brother Casey in the heist comedy film “The Instigators.”
Affleck recently reprised his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman in 2023’s “The Flash” and appeared in his wife Jennifer Lopez’s film “This Is Me… Now: A Love Story.”
