‘Top Gun 3’ In The Works At Paramount Following Tom Cruise
Even though Tom Cruise signed a non-exclusive deal with Warner Bros. earlier this week, it looks like he’ll be keeping busy with Paramount for a while longer. Tonight reports that Top Gun 3 is in development at Paramount with Top Gun: Maverick co-writer Ehren Kruger currently writing a draft.
Sources say Maverick director Joe Kosinski will also return to direct. Puck was the first to report on Kurger’s involvement. The intention is to reunite Tom Cruise with his Next Generation co-stars Miles Teller and Glen Powell.

Cruise is currently shooting Mission: Impossible 8 for Paramount, which will keep him busy at least until its release, which is currently scheduled for May 2025. The actor also has an outer space film in development with NASA at Universal. It is being directed by Doug Liman.
Maverick overperformed at the box office in 2022 and grossed $1.5 billion globally, and Steven Spielberg credited Cruise for saving the theatrical business, which was plagued by the coronavirus pandemic. This development further solidifies one thing that became clear after this week: Cruise is still an in-demand star.
