Nicole Kidman makes rare comment about Tom Cruise more than 20 years after emotional divorce
Nicole Kidman commemorates the 25th anniversary of the release of Eyes Wide Shut, the actress has adopted a reflective stance on her experience making the film with her then-husband, Tom Cruise, under the meticulous direction of Stanley Kubrick. The Academy Award-winning actor recalled Kubrick’s unique process of filming, particularly the extensive rehearsal period that preceded the actual shoot of the movie, in an interview obtained by Deadline.
The couple, who were married for 11 years and share two children, rarely talk about the time they spend together.
She shared insights into the film’s preparation process and revealed that she, Tom and Stanley spent considerable time together before filming began. “When Tom and I started with Stanley, he would go to his house and we wouldn’t even go to the Pinewood [Studios] sets,” she recalled.
Nicole Kidman further said, “Six or eight weeks went by and we were wondering, ‘Are we ever going to start?’ And we just weren’t getting started. We were getting comfortable with each other, comfortable enough to exchange ideas.”
Eyes Wide Shut is known for its long filming period of almost two years. Nicole revealed that she and Tom lived together in a studio on set throughout this time.
“We had a house 10 minutes away, but we lived in that trailer,” she explained. “Tom and I shared it because Stanley said, they will not give them a separate trailer each, They can’t afford it.
Stanley Kubrick, who is known for his meticulous filmmaking style, died on March 7, 1999, due to a heart attack at the age of 70, shortly after showing a final version of the Movie – Eyes Wide Shut to his family and the stars of the film.
