Miss Teen USA resigned on Wednesday, sending more shock waves through the pageant community just days after Miss USA said she would be relinquishing her crown.
Miss Teen USA Uma Sophia Srivastava said in an Instagram post on Wednesday that her “personal values no longer completely align with the direction of the organization.”
“After months of struggling with this decision, I have decided to relinquish the title of Miss Teen USA 2023,” Srivastava wrote in a statement on her account. The New Jersey high school teen won the competition in September and expressed pride in being the first Mexican-Indian American to play the role.

Umasofia’s resignation comes after another queen stepped down earlier this week.
On Monday, Noelia Voigt gave up the Miss USA title, citing her mental health. When she won the crown in November, Veigt, who is Venezuelan American and from Utah, said she would work to connect with diverse communities across the United States.
“I know deep down that this is the beginning of a new chapter for me, and I hope to inspire others to persevere, prioritize their mental health, and use their voice to advocate for themselves and others. I will never be afraid of what the future holds, even if it feels uncertain,” she posted on Instagram.
“Never compromise with your physical and mental health. Our health is our wealth,” she wrote.
Her post led fans to speculate that Voigt was sending a hidden message regarding a nondisclosure agreement, with the first 11 sentences of her statement reading, “I have been silenced.”
A spokesperson for the Miss USA Organization told USA Today in a statement on Monday that they supported Voigt’s decision to step down from her duties and said that “the well-being of our titleholders is a top priority, and we understand they need to prioritise her self at this time.”
The organization said they are reviewing plans for a “transition of responsibilities to a successor” and that they will announce the new Miss USA soon.
