Mariah Carey and Bryan Tanaka has ended their 7 years relationship
Mariah Carey and her boyfriend Bryan Tanaka have officially split after seven years together.
After their breakup was reported, Tanaka confirmed the news through a post on Instagram.
“Our decision to go our separate ways is mutual,” the 40-year-old wrote in the post, which he described as “seven extraordinary years together.”
In a lengthy statement, he said that the “memories…and artistic collaborations” they created are forever engraved in my heart.
Tanaka is a choreographer and dancer. The couple met in 2006 while attending Mimi’s Adventures Tour. After a decade of friendship, they started dating in 2016.
In the statement, Tanaka wrote: “I want to express my love and appreciation for Mariah and her incredible children, whose warmth and kindness have enriched my life in ways that words cannot express.”
Tanaka concluded his statement by asking for “understanding, privacy and respect” and thanked fans for their “love and support”, which he calls a “symbol of strength”.
Rumors about the couple’s breakup first surfaced when Tanaka was not on Carey’s Christmas tour in December, and he was also notably absent when she went on vacation to Aspen with their twins.
Mariah Carey is yet to comment on the breakup
Carey has not commented on the split. Shortly after Tanaka posted her statement, Carey shared a photo on Instagram celebrating the news that her holiday hit “All I Want for Christmas Is You” had broken Spotify records and reached number one on the Billboard charts.
Some fans criticized Tanaka for sharing his statement about Carey’s song on the same day as the news.
According to reports published by TMZ, Tanaka wanted to have children with the singer, but she was not unanimous, which led to their separation.
