“If the law is the same for everyone, why is my son facing the NSA and Udhay Stalin not?”: Manish Kashyap’s mother writes to President Murmu
On Wednesday, September 6, Madhu Devi, the mother of YouTuber Manish Kashyap, wrote a letter to President Droupadi Murmu raising questions about the National Security Act (NSA) invoked against her son by the Tamil Nadu Police for allegedly fueling tensions between two states while no Such action was taken against DMK leader and state minister Udhaynidhi Stalin, who called for “eradication of Sanatan Dharma”, posing an even greater threat to national security.
In a letter dated September 6, 2023, Manish Kashyap’s mother Madhu Devi stated that her son had raised the issue of alleged mistreatment faced by some Bihari workers in Tamil Nadu through her YouTube video. ; however, the Tamil Nadu police found it false and filed six different complaints. FIR in addition to slapping the strict NSA against her son.
Further, the letter mentioned that the video in question was circulating since February 15 this year from Tamil Nadu and only added that the country’s print media published news articles on the same after February 21. Subsequently, the electronic media also echoed the issue and politicians finally commented on the news. Madhu Devi alleged that the Tamil Nadu and Bihar governments conspired to frame Manish Kashyap even though her “controversial” video came to light in March.
“My son also made a video on the news about Bihari migrant workers, but in March, and questioned the Bihar government on why Bihari workers are subjected to such discrimination, but the Bihar government and the Tamil government Nadu connived to invoke the strict NSA. ” reads the letter.
Furthermore, YouTuber Manish Kashyap’s mother questioned that if her son’s video on Bihari workers created a situation of clashes between two states, “then why Udhaynidhi Stalin has not been booked under the National Security Act nor imprisoned since he was a minister?” “Her comments against Sanatan Dharma could have sparked clashes across the country.”
Manish Kashyap’s mother demanded that if the constitution is the same for everyone, then even Udhaynidhi Stalin should be included under the NSA too. Further, she demanded that an independent committee formed by the Supreme Court investigate the video of Bihari migrant workers.
Concluding the letter, Madhu Devi hoped that President Droupadi Murmu would ensure justice and that the Prime Minister’s son would also face the same punishment as any common citizen for violating the law.
“I don’t have a good education but I am the wife of a soldier and the mother of a brave son. “I am hopeful that the honorable President will bring justice to my son and that the Prime Minister’s son will face the same punishment decided by the court as any other citizen of Bharat,” she adds in the letter.
Meanwhile, Manish Kashyap’s brother Karan Kashyap confirmed that the said letter was sent to President Murmu. In a Sach Tak News report, he reiterated the claims of his mother Madhu Devi and said that “it is the ordeal of a man who used to fight for the youth of Bihar and the problems of him and how the NSA was invoked.” against him. “It is the letter of a woman whose husband gave his life in the Kargil war and is the daughter-in-law of a soldier who made the supreme sacrifice in the war against China.”
Karan Kashyap said that he is hopeful of meeting President Murmu soon. Manish Kashyap’s brother said law is different for ‘big’ people as Manish Kashyap is detained under NSA on allegations of attempt to incite clashes between Bihar and Tamil Nadu, while Udhaynidhi Stalin’s defamatory comments against Sanatan Dharma could also have caused clashes at the national level.
“This is also the same situation, in both cases there was possibility of clashes but NSA was never invoked against Udhaynidhi Stalin. If no action is taken against him (Udhaynidhi), then that page from the law books which says that the law is the same for everyone should be removed. It cannot be the same if multiple FIRs are lodged against a person (like in Manish Kashyap’s case) at different places in Tamil Nadu and Bihar, even when he was in custody.
However, a minister who is also the son of a prime minister makes derogatory comments against Sanatan Dharma, the sacred religion of the country’s hundred crore population. If something unfortunate had happened, no one would have been able to make up for it,” Karan Kashyap said.
Manish’s brother added that similar action should be taken against Udhaynidhi.
