Kevin Feige hints at the possibility of Robert Downey Jr. or Chris Evans returning to the MCU

Hugh Jackman’s return as Logan in Deadpool and Wolverine has raised some hope among MCU fans about Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man and Chris Evans’ Captain America. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige expressed the same in a recent interview, as he reflected on possible instances that the two superhero icons could perhaps reprise their roles despite completing their character arcs.

Recently Marvel boss Kevin Feige has addressed the possibility of this event, as the multiverse is such a big part of the universe.

Critics have been saying positive things about the upcoming film, which will open to all this Friday. Hugh played the role for years, and it was hard for fans to imagine anyone else in that role. Similarly, Chris Evans and RDJ were two of the most important pillars of the Marvel Universe. Their characters had the most fan following, which eventually boosted the popularity of the MCU among the people. They both retired from their respective roles after 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. During an interview with DiscussingFilm, Kevin Feige said that Hugh Jackman’s return as Wolverine will pave the way for Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans as Iron Man and Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the future. For him, it is not about past events but about the way to reintroduce the characters, which took him almost two years for Wolverine.

He said that he has figured out how Wolverine can reappear in a new form, which makes him proud. Hence, he hinted that the same could happen to Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans.

He added, “So, what’s going to happen next? We’ll see. We’re just proud of the fact that we, I think, have figured this out for Wolverine. I think Hugh’s presence and lead role in [Deadpool and Wolverine] is a great sign that it can be done if a lot of care is taken.” Speaking to Vanity Fair last year, Feige dismissed rumours of Robert Downey Jr.’s return as Iron Man, saying, “We’re going to continue that momentum and not touch that moment again. We’ve all worked hard for many, many years to get there, and we wouldn’t want to undo that in any magical way.” In the meantime, keep yourself tuned for the release of Deadpool and Wolverine on July 26.
