Joe Manganiello disagrees with Sofia Vergara’s claim that they divorced over having kids
Joe Manganiello doesn’t entirely agree with his ex-wife Sofia Vergara’s explanation for why their marriage didn’t work out.
In January, 6 months after the star couple ended their marriage, Sofía Vergara told EL País that the marriage came to an end because her husband was younger and wanted to have children, but she did not want to be a mother.
In an interview published in Men’s Journal on Tuesday, “Magic Mike” alum Joe Manganiello, who moved into reality TV this year as host and executive producer of “Deal or No Deal Island,” disputed this characterization of his 2023 divorce.

Joe Manganiello acknowledged that they tried to start a family during the first year and a half of their marriage. Manganiello also recalled having an honest conversation about kids when they started dating in 2014. “I told her, ‘If you’re done with kids, then I understand.’ Just tell me and I’ll know what this is and everything will be okay,'” he recalled. In July 2023, Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello issued a joint statement saying that after seven years of marriage, they made the “difficult decision” to divorce. “As two people who love and care for each other deeply, we politely ask for respect for our privacy at this time as we navigate this new phase of our lives,” they wrote.
Two days later, Manganiello filed for divorce, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the dissolution of the marriage.
Joe Manganiello is now dating Caitlin O’Connor
Joe Manganiello and Caitlin O’Connor met at a party after the premiere of their HBO show, Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty. That same month, the couple was seen leaving Gold’s Gym in Venice, California, where they were seen walking side by side before leaving together in the same Cadillac SUV.
Manganiello and O’Connor made their official red carpet debut as a couple at the Children of Armenia Fund (COAF) gala, held at the Cipriani 25 Broadway restaurant in New York in December 2023.
The actors were then seen at the game between the New York Jets and the Houston Texans days after making their red-carpet debut.
Several sources claimed that the couple clicked from the beginning.
“Joe and Caitlin are very calm and work very well together,” the first source explained, while a second source added that O’Connor is not a “high maintenance” person. “She’s not a big drinker or a party animal.”
