Jason Derulo Sexual Assault Case Dismissed Due to a Contract
On Tuesday, a California Judge dismissed the Sexual Harassment lawsuit against Jason Derulo made by Emaza Gibson. The lawsuit was dismissed because Gibson had signed a contract with Derulo and label Atlantic Records according to which she had agreed to handle any disputes using New York State law and Manhattan courts.
Gibson’s Lawyer’s statement
According to Rolling Stone, Ronald Zambrano (Gibson’s lawyer) said that the judge had not taken any decision on the claims made but merely changed the venue. He added that the allegations against Jason Derulo remain unchanged and they are committed to holding Jason Derulo accountable for his illegal conduct. He further added, “We will now refill the lawsuit in New York and we fully intend to win.”
Before the judge’s ruling Tuesday, Zambrano argued that some of his client’s claims, including her claim of retaliatory sexual harassment, “have no reference to any contract,” so they are not subject to the terms of signed agreements. In court filings, he said the alleged harassment occurred in California and should be governed by California state law.
What was the Lawsuit by Emaza Gibson?
Gibson filed the lawsuit last October in which she had alleged that Derulo lured her into a big recording deal and then pressurized her to party and demand intimacy, which she declined. After that incident, she alleged that Derulo had ghosted her and her deal was terminated without any valid explanation on 6th September 2022.
Gibson had previously said that Jason Derulo was one of her favourite artists since she was a little girl but her view on the artist changes when she goes through such a traumatic situation.
Jason Derulo responds to the Allegation
Jason Derulo had taken to Instagram and claimed that the allegations were false and hurtful. He further added that he stands against all kinds of harassment and is supportive of people following their dreams. He said that he had always tried to live a life that had a positive impact on the people.
Derulo and 50 Cent Beef
Derulo and 50 Cent engaged in a Beef over the comment Derulo made regarding Diddy where he stated that Sean “Diddy” Combs is innocent until proven guilty (Diddy is facing several sexual assault lawsuits now). 50 Cent on responding to the comment posted on Instagram urging Jason Derulo to “Shut the Fu** up and mocking he might find Derulo “In one of them tapes.”
Later Derulo’s strike back at 50 Cent, he edited a video of Derulo punching a person who had 50 Cent’s face on it.
