Hugh Jackman Thirst Trap Photo While Preparing for Deadpool and Wolverine
Hugh Jackman took to Instagram on Wednesday to share a shirtless selfie in front of the mirror with his 34 million followers. “I’m grateful,” Jackman captioned the post in which he appears in black sweatpants flexing his muscles in front of the mirror. Along with his shirtless selfie, Jackman attached a nearly four-minute-long voice note, in which he thanked “eight people” for helping him get back in shape.
In May, Jackman spoke to People about how he prepared to get back into shape as a superhero. The actor shared that much of the physical preparation for reprising his role came from working with stunt coordinator Brian Smrz on “dance training” to help him through different scenes.
Jackman told the outlet that he “loved” the idea of incorporating dance into his stunts, even as he continues to age. “When I got back into it, it was a lot of fun and I was excited. My body was a little sore at first, but I was excited that my body was still responding. And I realized how good it is for the brain,” Jackman said.
The actor admitted that the hardest part of getting in shape for the film wasn’t the workouts or the dance training, but the diet. Jackman explained that in the past, he was required to “gain muscle mass” to play “Wolverine,” which wasn’t easy for him.
“I have to eat a lot,” he explained. “For my body type, I’m naturally skinny. Gaining muscle mass is the hardest thing. It’s what drives me crazy.”
Deadpool and Wolverine Box Office
Marvel Studios and Disney’s Deadpool and Wolverine have added to its list of records, now becoming the highest-grossing R-rated film ever in the United States worldwide. As of Thursday, the undead vigilante and the adamantium-clawed X-Man have grossed $1,085.6 billion (or $1.086 billion) worldwide. The breakdown is $516.8 million at the domestic box office and $568.8 million internationally.
In October 2019, when Joker was crowned the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time, it did so by surpassing 2016’s Deadpool finale of $783 million. Either way, there’s a bit of a turn of the tables here. The trilogy starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman surpassed the $1 billion global mark last weekend, making it only the second U.S. R-rated film to reach the milestone.
Deadpool & Wolverine reached $1 billion faster than Joker, though the latter film was not released in China. D&W is also the second-highest-grossing film of the year, after Disney/Pixar’s Inside Out 2, and the only other film to gross over $1 billion in 2024.
