Happy Gilmore 2 is the Upcoming project of Adam Sandler
“Happy Gilmore 2” is being developed by Adam Sandler, and a script even exists. It is the sequel to the classic 1996 Adam Sandler comedy Happy Gilmore, which starred original film star Christopher McDonald.
In an interview with Audacy’s 92.3 The Fan McDonald explained that he had met Adam Sandler just two weeks earlier and Adam said, “McDonald, you’ll love this.” When asked what it was, Adam showed him the first draft of Happy Gilmore 2 and asked “What would it be like?”
Sandler starred in and co-wrote “Happy Gilmore”, directed by Dennis Dugan. The sports comedy is one of Sandler’s most popular comedies. He plays Happy Gilmore, a hockey player with anger management problems who discovers he also has a talent for golf. Happy joins the golf tour circuit to win money to save his grandmother’s house and encounters an arrogant pro named Shooter McGavin, played by McDonald. The supporting cast also included “Modern Family” favourites Julie Bowen and Carl Weathers (who died last month at age 76). “Happy Gilmore”, directed by Dennis Dugan, and released by Universal Pictures, grossed over $82 million worldwide. The film helped Sandler become one of the biggest comedy stars of the decade, along with “Billy Madison,” “The Waterboy,” “Big Daddy,” “The Wedding Singer” and other titles.
Media sources claim that the project is attached to Netflix as Sandler and his production company, Happy Madison Productions, have already finalized a long-term deal with the streamer. The OTT giant is yet to confirm the speculations.
