Garrett Morris is ONE OF THE Original Cast of SNL
During an interview, Garrett Morris told People that he remembered that some producers didn’t want a black cast member in the SNL but Lorne Micheals was just the opposite of it, Morris Added Micheals does not have a single racist bone in his body.
Morris’s addiction to Cocaine
During his 5 years on the show, he and his coaster John Belushi were heavily addicted to drugs due to which his former costar ultimately died.
Morris explains that he and John never party together after the shooting of the show While he always went home John went to the bar. Morris further added that John. death is a great loss in the entertainment industry.
However, Morris’s addiction does not end he left the show in 1980. Lead roles in shows like 2 Broke Girls, the Jamie Foxx show, and The Jeffersons. It was not until 10 years ago Morris got fully sober and stopped taking drugs.
Racism Garrett Morris faced during his Early Days
Apart from cocaine addiction, Morris also had to go through other difficult times during his showbiz career. In the beginning, when he was 20, he says there were times when he was not allowed to stay in the same hotel as white singers.

He says racism was a common theme during his Hollywood career, although it was not as obvious as it was when he was growing up in segregated New Orleans.
“I thought Hollywood would be progressive,” Garrett Morris says naively but it was not the case and it was a surprise thing for him.
Morris had a Near Death Experience
Garrett Morris also survived a shooting in 1994. “I ran the New York City Marathon in 1993,” he says, before the following year he was accidentally caught in an attempted robbery while going to the store to get juice.
Two men asked him for money, and Morris says he always had trouble keeping his mouth running. “I said, ‘Oh, someone is looking for a fight,’ but then the guy shot me. Bullet number five hit me in the waist. That’s the only reason I survived.
Morris has recovered, although now, at age 87, he says he still needs a walker to get around, but mainly because of arthritis.
