Ethnic Violence in Manipur resulted in the loss of lives of 98 people and 310 injured and 4013 arson cases have been reported in the clash between two communities which start a month ago.
Manipur Police have said that the situation is starting to return to a normal state, and the cases of torching houses and firing by miscreants have dropped. Relaxation during curfew hours has been announced.
The Ethnic clash broke out on May 3, a protest against the Meitei community’s demand for Scheduled Tribe (ST) status, by organizing a Tribal Solidarity March. After 14 days the state witnessed a spurt in clashes and gunfights. 84 companies of central armed forces have been deployed that include Indian Army, Assam Rifles, CAPFs, and local police said Manipur CM Office.
As of now the situation is normal in most of the district and the curfew is relaxed for 12 hours, in District like Tamenglong, Noney, Senapati, Kamjong, and Ukhrul there is no curfew said Manipur Police.
