Dolly Parton’s song “Jolene” is on Beyoncé Country Song?
Following the 66th Annual Grammy Awards on February 4, the Internet was abuzz with suspicions about Beyoncé country song, even before she announced it.
Beyoncé historically keeps the details of her record secret — she dropped her two new singles, “Texas Hold ‘Em” and “16 Carriages” from the sky during the Super Bowl — but Parton revealed that she believes that the singer covered her 1973 classic “Jolene” For the next album.
“Well, I guess she has! I think she recorded ‘Jolene’ and I think it’ll probably be on her country album, which I’m very excited about,” Parton told Knox News about whispers that a collaboration with Beyoncé Parton is on the way or covered at least one of the song of her on Beyonce upcoming eighth studio album scheduled to be released on March 29.
Fans will still have to wait to see if the “Jolene” cover makes the final cut of Beyoncé’s album, which arrives March 29. After sharing her initial excitement, Parton was more careful in adding that she “listens” and “thinks” and “hopes” Beyoncé had recorded the classic hit.
But Parton said she always wanted Beyoncé to cover that song of hers.
Beyoncé played a Verizon ad during Super Bowl LVIII and it looked like she was teasing new music. She ended the ad with “Okay, they’re ready”. Leave the music.”
Then, she confirmed the news with an Instagram Reel, in which she announced that her new album, Act II, would be arriving on March 29. And yes, this is country.
She also announced two new songs, “16 Carriages” and “Texas Hold ‘Em”.
“Texas Hold ‘Em” has so far spent two weeks at number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming Beyoncé’s ninth number 1 hit on the chart. It also become the top song on the Hot Country Songs and Global 200 charts with over 60 million streams.
Parton defended Beyonce Country Song
Despite the success of “Texas Hold ‘Em”, Beyoncé Country song received criticism. Some country music stations were initially hesitant to play her new country songs because she has traditionally been a pop/R&B artist.
But Parton welcomed Beyoncé country song with open arms.
“A lot of people don’t realize that Beyoncé is a country girl. She’s from Texas,'” Parton said of the Houston-born singer. ”I think we’re where we can do well, and her song is number one on every chart around the world, I think. So, I mean, who can argue with that?”
