Dixie Chicks’s Laura Lynch died in a car accident.

The  Chicks (Previously know as Dixie Chicks) member  addressed Laura Lynch’s death they wrote “ WE are shocked and saddened to learn of the passing od Laura Lynch, a founding member of Dixie CHICKS (NOW KNOW AS CHICKS). We hold a special place in our hearts for the time we spent playing music, laughing and traveling together.

Laura was a bright light…her infectious energy and humor gave a spark to the early days of our band. Laura had a gift for design, a love of all things Texas and was instrumental in the early success of the band. Her undeniable talents helped propel us beyond busking on street corners to stages all across Texas and the mid – west.”

Police said that Laura Lynch was heading toward east on Hinghway 62 and an car which is moving toward west try to pass another vehicle in front of it and in this the car dash with Laura’s car which killed her. Laura was declared dead at the scene and the driver of the other car had minor injuries.

Dixie Chicks was founded in 1989 by 4 women – Laura Lynch(lead vocal) (Upright Bass), Martie Erwin, Emily Erwin (multi instrumentalist- both sisters later change their name to Martie Maguire and Emily Strayer) and Robin Lynn Macy (guitar)(lead vocal).

The name Dixie Chicks was taken from an album of same name by Lowell George.

In their initial days they used to played Blue grass and mix of country standards.

In 1990, they got the chance to record their first studio album

John Goodwin Tower ( The first Republican elected as the Senate for Texas (1961-1985)) daughter Penny Cook gave the Dixie Chicks $10,000 to record an album. After receiving the  money the band start working on their first studio album  the gave the name of this album in honor of Dale Evans – “ Thanks Heavens for Dale Evans. After that their popularity slowly start increasing more.

They even won the best band prize in 1990 Telluride Bluegrass Festival.

In 1992 they released a 2nd album “ Little Ol’s Cowgirl which is more toward contemporary country sound. The band take helps of more experience  musicians to make song using modern arrangement but they slowly start to move away from their Bluegrass style . Robin was not happy with the change, she preferred Blue Grass style of music. That’s why she left the Band but she remain active in Austin and Dallas playing Bluegrass music.

After Robin left they start search for a new member and  they were introduced to Natalia Maines by Lloyd Maines a professional Guitarist who is also her father. The Dixie band members were ready but the Record Labels hesitate to take risk.

In 1993, Dixie chicks released 3rd independent album “Shouldn’t a Told You That”  but it was not able to attract attention of major record label as a result the band struggled to expand their fan base. This change when Scott Siman became their manager he was able to signed them to Sony Music Entertainment till mid 1995.

In 1995 Laura Lynch leave the band reason given that she want to spend more time with her daughter and with her family. After Laura Lynch left Natalie Maines  take her place and the band become a 3 members band (Emily Strayer, Martie Maguire and Natalie Maines).

The Dixie Chicks keep moving forward achieving in 1997 they signed Monument Records Nashville then with Columbia Records   and produce some of their most successful album “Wide Open Spaces” and “Fly” “Home” these albums achieved multi platinum sales in Canada, U.S and Australia. From this movement the Dixie chicks become impossible to stop. The chicks won 13 Grammy awards.
