Dakota Johnson experiences a wardrobe malfunction on Jimmy Kimmel Live
Dakota Johnson handled a major wardrobe malfunction like a pro.
On the Wednesday, June 19 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, Dakota Johnson came to discuss her new film Daddio, in which she stars opposite Sean Penn.
The former Fifty Shades of Gray actress wore a black dress, which featured metallic pieces embellished with floral charms as straps. After host Jimmy Kimmel showed viewers a clip from the film, Johnson was seen struggling with the straps of her dress.
“Your dress just fell off,” said host Jimmy Kimmel. “Are you okay? Should I get some duct tape?”
Dakota Johnson, who was wearing a shiny black dress with thin gold belts, replied: “My dress… just fell off.”
“It looks like it’s hanging well,” Kimmel assured the actress, after which she grabbed the belt during the interview.
“I’ll handle it,” she said.
The host joked that Johnson just needed to “hold the important part,” to which the actress placed both hands on her chest to hold up the top of the dress.
“The movie is really good,” she joked as she posed.

This isn’t Johnson’s first wardrobe mishap on late-night television.
In January 2022, the Madame Web star tried to sit down in her red Magda Butrym minidress on The Late Late Show with James Corden.
With her legs crossed and her hands on her upper thighs, host James Corden noticed her discomfort and asked, “Are you okay? Are you okay? Do you need my jacket?”
Dakota Johnson jokingly replied, “I’m fine. It’s nothing that nobody’s seen before,” referring to her nude scenes as Anastasia Steele in the Fifty Shades franchise.
While accepting Favorite Drama Actress at the 2016 People’s Choice Awards, the star pulled a similar prank after host Leslie Mann hugged her, causing her Armani Privé Couture top to fall open on stage.
“Leslie tore my dress,” Johnson said as she put the top back in place. “Well, it’s not like anyone here hasn’t seen my breasts before.”
She later explained what happened between her and Mann during an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers.
“I hadn’t seen him in a while, so I gave him a hug,” Johnson said. “I hugged Leslie and then my dress ripped because it was a two-piece, so my top almost fell off.”
