Isaac Freeman III, the award-winning rapper popularly known as Fatman Scoop died after suffering from a medical emergency on stage. His family honoured the rapper with an emotional post on Instagram, remembering Fatman as a “Father, Brother, Uncle and a Friend” as well as an “iconic performer.”

“It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of the legendary and iconic FatMan Scoop,” read a post on his Instagram page on behalf of his family. “Last night, the world lost a radiant soul, a beacon of light on stage and in life.”

What happens to Fatman Scoop?

A video shared by TMZ on Friday showed the rapper was shirtless and was hyping up when the crowd suddenly collapsed and appeared to suffer a medical emergency while performing at a concert at Town Center Park in Hamden, Connecticut.

Lauren Garrett who is the mayor of the town said that the rapper was taken to the hospital by an ambulance. On Sunday Garrett thanked the crowd present during the concert and the paramedics who tried to take life-saving measures to help the rapper.

“On behalf of the Town of Hamden, I offer my sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Isaac Freeman, aka Fatman Scoop,” she posted on Facebook. “He was a wonderful entertainer with a huge following, as evidenced by the thousands of fans who turned out to see what would be his final performance at Hamden Town Center Park.”

Fatman had worked with some of the biggest names in the music industry with the likes of Mariah Carey, Missy Elliott, Ciara and Chingy just to name a few.

Ciara posted on X: “Rest in peace @FatmanScoop! You truly were one of the greatest voices in hip-hop! I’m so happy I got to experience your greatness! We will all miss you so much.”

Public Enemy rapper Chuck D called Fatman Scoop a “great human being.”

Questlove of hip-hop band The Roots said Fatman Scoop was the “embodiment of what hip-hop was really about. Just forgetting about your troubles, living in the moment, and allowing the joy to come in.”

Fatman Scoop had 2 kids a son and a daughter, he had kept a low profile about this topic. There is little information about Scoop’s family background. In 2018 the artist posted a rare photo of his son and captioned the photo “My son and I, circa 2001. He’s a GROWN MAN now. I pray for him EVERY DAY. I sound like a fucking father! Shhh!”

Fatman Scoop was married twice, including once to ex-wife Shanda Freeman.

Fatman and Freeman starred in a Realtily show named “Man & Wife” in 2008. The show tackled different topics which include money, jobs, sex, and relationships.

The couple divorced after 13 years of marriage life. Fatman during an episode of “The Premium Pete Show” in August 2018 revealed about his divorce and said that it has nothing to do with cheating or other kind of issues.
