Blake Lively’s Movie “It Ends With Us” Pushed Taylor Swift’s Song to a New Height
Pop icon Taylor Swift is one of the most decorated singers of all time. Swift has never had trouble turning a song into a hit. However, she sometimes benefits from a clever marketing strategy or clever, high-profile timing. One such appearance in a major new film has helped one of the singer’s songs return to the charts and become bigger than ever.
Taylor Swift’s “My Tears Ricochet” reappears on this week’s Alternative Digital Song Sales chart thanks to Blake Lively’s recent film “It Ends With Us.” Swift’s song hits No. 8 on Billboard’s chart of best-selling alternative songs in the U.S. Also read – Pop Icon Justin Bieber Welcomes His “First Baby” With Wife Hailey Bieber
Blake Lively explains the connection between the singer and the film
In June, during a Q&A panel for Book Bonanza, Lively explained the connection between Taylor Swift and the film “It Ends With Us,” (the romantic drama adapted from Colleen Hoover’s bestselling book starring Lively, 36, and director Justin Baldoni, which features Swift’s song “My Tears Ricochet” in its official trailer.)
Lively, who is an executive producer and star of It Ends With Us, suggested that the song’s lyrics fit Hoover’s story about her character, a woman dealing with a cycle of domestic abuse. “Colleen had told something deeply personal and intimate, which can resonate with so many people,” the Gossip Girl star explained. “And Taylor, she’s an incredible writer. She writes from very personal experiences and vulnerabilities.”
Both Hoover and Swift are linked as “women writing their stories,” she added, marvelling at “what Taylor has done with her life and her career.” And Hoover, she noted, “started [her novelist career] by self-publishing.”
