Britney Spears Deletes Post Criticizing New “Lucky” Music Video
Britney Spears and Halsey are proving there’s no bad blood between them after Halsey’s new video, “Lucky,” dropped on Friday, July 26.
Britney Spears, 42, posted about it on X (formerly Twitter) a Few Hours after the music video dropped, However, she quickly deleted the message.
“For obvious reasons, I’m very upset about Halsey’s video,” Spears wrote in the since-deleted post. “I feel harassed, violated, and bullied. I didn’t know an artist like her and someone I looked up to would light me up in such an ignorant way by portraying me as a shallow pop star with no heart or concern at all.”
“I have my health issues, which is why I deleted my IG account yesterday. I will be opening it back up to show I CARE,” the post continued. “I’m speaking to my lawyers today to see what can be done about this. I find it illegal and cruel.”
Shortly after deleting the post, Spears said her previous criticisms of Halsey’s music video had been “fake news” and claimed that “I wasn’t the one on my phone.”
Britney Spears wrote on X that she loved Halsey and that is the reason she deleted it. Also read – Snoop Dogg Participates in the Paris Olympics 2024 Torch Relay
Halsey responds to Spears Post
Halsey, 29, who uses the pronouns “she”/”they,” issued a response to Britney Spears’ second post, showing her support for the pop artist.
“I love Britney! I always loved her and I always will. You were the first person who made me realize what it means to be inspired. And you continue to inspire me every day,” Halsey wrote on X.
Halsey’s song “Lucky” features an interpolation of Spears’ 2000 hit of the same name.
Similar to Spears’ “Lucky” music video, Halsey’s new “Lucky” video shows the singer navigating the complexities of fame. Her outfits include a sheer bodysuit covered in crystals, which appears to be an homage to Spears’ wardrobe in her music video.
While promoting the release of the Gia Coppola-directed video early on Friday, Halsey praised Spears by sharing an old image of her holding a white heart on her Instagram Stories.
The singer previously shared on X that Spears had given the song her “blessing” and had been “so kind” in response to a letter Halsey had written. According to a press release, Spears listened to the song early in the process and gave her approval.
