Snoop Dogg Participates in the Paris Olympics 2024 Torch Relay
Snoop Dogg, the Grammy-nominated rapper, is working as a special correspondent for NBC during the 2024 Paris Olympics. Although a few Games like Archery, Rugby etc. had already begun before the Opening Ceremony, Snoop Dogg has already charmed viewers with his funny comments, memorable catchphrases and positive attitude.
“I’m chilling like a villain,” said Snoop Dogg, who was wearing a red, white and blue Ralph Lauren Opening Ceremony uniform in the rain. “Raindrops were falling on my head, but we still playing to win baby.”
Snoop Dogg, Olympic torchbearer
Snoop Dogg lit the torch on the final leg of the Olympic torch relay as he walked through the streets of Saint-Denis on Friday (July 26) ahead of the Opening Ceremony.
With the torch in his right hand and golden shoes on his feet, Snoop Dogg was fully present for the occasion as he carried the torch around the Stade de France on Friday morning. He kissed fans lining the streets and lit the torch after a short walk up the stadium steps wearing his golden shoes. Also read – Celine Dion performs at Paris Olympics 2024 after a 3-year hiatus
In a photo shared on X (formerly Twitter), Snoop, 52, can be seen dressed in head-to-toe sportswear as he prepares for his main role in France.
The LA-born Snoop was one of the final torchbearers before the torch was officially lit to open the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Snoop, who will provide on-ground coverage of the Games for NBC this year, previously told The Associated Press about being selected for the relay: “I see it as a prestigious honour and something I really respect.” “I never imagined anything like this. I’m going to be on my best behaviour. I’m going to be able to walk fast, breathe slowly and hold the torch with a smile on my face because I realize how prestigious this event is.”
Later, Pharrell served as the final bearer of the torch, carrying it to the top of the Basilica of Saint-Denis before it reached the Olympic cauldron. French journalist Mohamed Bouhafsi and actress Laetitia Casta were the first to complete the final transfer of the torch, handing it over to the flame keepers for storage in the official lantern ahead of Friday afternoon’s opening ceremony.
