Joe Rogan defends Jon Jones’ GOAT status amid banned substance allegations

Joe Rogan isn’t 100% sure Jon Jones uses performance-enhancing drugs. The UFC heavyweight champion has been a phenomenal star. He has dominated some of the promotion’s biggest names to cement his place among the greats. However, Jon Jones has found himself involved in quite a few unwanted accusations. It all started in 2015 when Jones tested positive for cocaine. Then in 2016, Jones had to withdraw from the main event of UFC 200 due to a second failed drug test.

Joe Rogan thinks Jon Jones is a GOAT

Joe Rogan invited Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson to the latest episode of his Joe Rogan Experience. During their argument, Rogan and Jackson began talking about Jon Jones. Jackson noted that while Jones’ accomplishments are exceptional, the PED charges put a red mark on his ledger. However, Joe Rogan didn’t seem to be on the same page as Rampage.

Rogan believed that Jon Jones was still the GOAT since he had always dominated his opponents. Talking about the same, Joe Rogan said, “He doesn’t look like someone who takes steroids.”

Rogan further explained that every time Jones tested positive, the levels of banned substances in his system were minuscule. These findings leave room for doubts and a reevaluation of the situation.

However, Rogan also turned his opinions around and reflected on the example of Lance Armstrong. Armstrong, considered a cycling legend, was found guilty of steroid use.
Thus, Rogan concluded that you cannot deduce whether someone is taking PEDs or not simply by looking at their physique.
