Benjamin Deshon Provo, who previously worked as a security guard at the troubled rapper’s private school, Donda Academy in August 2021, accused Ye of “often yelling at” him for his POC identity and firing him. According to the complaint, in April 2023, Kanye West “began unreasonably and unreasonably demanding that Plaintiff and others shave their heads,” despite Provo wearing his hair in dreadlocks “as an exercise of his Muslim faith.”
“As a result of Plaintiff not complying with Kanye’s demand that his head be shaved, Hicks and Kanye began to pressure Plaintiff to do so,” the document says, adding that Kanye Becoming more aggressive, he announced, “It’s time for you to shave your head. “I’m not messing around.”
“However, Plaintiff refused,” the complaint states. Subsequently, Hicks contacted the plaintiff and said, ‘Kanye said, ‘Tell the person who has the dread to shave his head or he will be fired.’ The plaintiff refused to have his head shaved, and as a result, his employment was terminated.
The complaint also says Provo is seeking damages for alleged discrimination, retaliation, hostile work environment, Labor Code violations and attorney’s fees.
