Billie Eilish’s Battle against Severe Depression
Billie Eilish has painted a picture of what it’s like to live with depression. The Grammy-award winner opened up about her mental health struggles in a recent interview with Rolling Stone magazine, published earlier this week. In it, the 22-year-old pop star talked about what it was like to suffer from debilitating depression for so many years, writing in her journal: ‘I know I’m lucky/But I’m so sad.’ She also revealed that she suffered from severe depression last summer.
The singer said of her mental health struggles, “It was more [real] than ever before,” adding: “In my entire life, I’ve never really been a happy person. I experience joy and laughter and I can find joy in things, but I’m an unhappy person.” Also read – Jodie Comer, Ralph Fiennes and Aaron Taylor-Johnson to star in “28 Years Later”
The singer revealed in the interview that she has ‘suffered from a lot of depression’ throughout her life. “When things happen in my soul or whatever, the thing I always hold on to is, ‘Okay, it’ll pass. It’ll come in waves and it’ll get worse and it’ll get better.’ And it’s always consoled me and this time, I was really like, ‘I don’t care, I don’t even want it to get better.’
Eilish said that through it all, she found support in her family. Her parents Maggie Baird and Patrick O’Connell, brother Phineas O’Connell and best friend Zoe Donahoe supported her through this difficult time. The singer also admitted that despite being a celebrity with a huge number of followers, she realized that she needed to get out of the house more often.
Billie Eilish reveals what made her realize she loved girls
Billie Eilish is scheduled to release her third studio album, Hit Me Hard & Soft, on May 17. In a Rolling Stone story, she explained the important role the song played in helping her understand her attraction to women.
The singer said, “That song was really part of what helped me become who I am, to be real.” “I wrote some of it before I did anything with a girl, and the rest after. I’ve been in love with girls my whole life, but I couldn’t figure it out — until last year, I realized I wanted my face in vagina.
In the same interview, Billie Eilish said that she never planned on talking about her sexuality ‘in a million years’, as she talked about the reaction to her 2023 Variety magazine interview in which she mentioned that she was attracted to women.
