Megan Thee Stallion accused of Sexual Harassment and Fat shaming
Megan Thee Stallion was sued by a former employee who accused the rapper of creating a hostile work environment and subjecting him to sexual harassment, and fat shaming.
Emilio Garcia, who previously worked as Stallion’s personal camera operator, claimed in the complaint filed Tuesday in Los Angeles County Superior Court that the hip-hop star, real name Megan Pete, as well as Megan Thee Stallion Entertainment, Inc, Hot Girl Touring, LLC and Roc Nation, violated more than half a dozen labour codes and were not compensated.
According to the complaint Garcia alleges she was misclassified as an independent contractor when he was hired in July 2018, thereby denying his protections under California law. This included health care and over six-figure overtime pay. When Roc Nation (founded by Jay-Z, Megan Thee Stallion signed a management deal in 2019.) changed the compensation structure to a pay-per-work system in August 2022, Gracia alleged time expectations and demands remained the same with significantly low wages. Gracia also alleged that Megan Thee Stallion prevented him from working with other clients. Also, read – Ryan Gosling’s Ending Love for His Wife Eva Mendes
Garcia saw Megan Thee Stallion having sex
While on tour in Ibiza, Spain, in June 2022, García witnessed Stallion having sex with another woman while he was “right next to” her in the SUV.
The next day, Stallion reportedly asked Garcia if he had been in the SUV the previous night. According to court documents, once confirmed, Stallion instructed Garcia to “never discuss what you saw.”
Garcia said he “felt uncomfortable” and was “kind of frozen” and “stunned” during the alleged incident in the car.
Stallion calls Garcia a “fat bit*h”
He also said he was “insulted” by the rapper’s alleged fat-shaming comments and was “surprised to hear this from someone who advocates loving your body.”
She also accused Megan Thee Stallion of allegedly shaming him by calling him a “fat bitch” and saying “spit out your food” and “you don’t need to eat.”
According to the lawsuit, Garcia was told by Roc Nation that his “services will no longer be required” by Megan Thee Stallion in June 2023, after he complained about the rapper’s lack of proper salary for a period.
Garcia alleges that his firing was in retaliation for his complaints of wage and hour violations.
An attorney for Megan Thee Stallion said in a statement to USA TODAY on Tuesday evening that the lawsuit is “a claim of employment for the sake of money – with no sexual harassment claim filed and the attempt to shame her is disgusting.”
