Rapper Chris King shot in Nashville
Chris King, the rapper who was close friends with Trippie Redd and Justin Bieber and who started the Snotty Nose Records label, was shot in Nashville early Saturday morning. He was 32 years old.
According to Nashville homicide detectives, King (real name: Christopher Cheeks) was with friends at 2:30 a.m. CT when three suspects attempted to rob the group. King and his 29-year-old friend were both shot. After running off in different directions, the 29-year-old victim was located and treated, while King was pronounced dead at Vanderbilt Hospital. Justin Bieber and Trippie Redd mourned the death of their dear friend Chris King in their recent Instagram stories. Chris King was a California rapper who rose to fame by making music with Trippie Redd.
“Brother I love you. This is sad,” Bieber wrote on his Instagram Stories on Saturday, April 20. “Please keep his family in your prayers. See you in heaven brother.”
“Fun fact: I lived at my brother Crib’s for a full year and a half, about 10 years ago. Glad some people never change, no matter what. Love to all, extended family forever. @JustinBieber,” he captioned his post.
Trippie Redd, 24, also paid tribute to King on Instagram, writing, “I wouldn’t be where I am today without [King],” as he introduced him to people like record executive Elliot Grainge.
“I am so hurt and can’t even think that I love you brother, come back!!!!! 😪😪😪 @whoischrisking 💔I can’t catch a break 🤮💔💔💔💔💔,” he captioned his post while writing in another that King “always had the best energy.”
Machine Gun Kelly responded to Redd’s comments, writing, “Chris was rare.”
Keke Palmer also paid tribute to King on Instagram, posting a photo of the two talking on FaceTime.
“Chris King! “I wish I had more pictures, but this one is really perfect because it started out exactly like this,” she wrote.
