Elle King has issued her first public comments after Dolly Parton Controversy

Nearly two months later, Elle King is finally speaking out about the storm she created with her “Hammer” tribute to Dolly Parton at the Grand Ole Opry on Jan. 19…

Elle King has issued her first public comments after the controversial performance at the Dolly Parton tribute concert in January. The singer was criticized for appearing intoxicated on stage at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium, where she told the crowd while singing, “Hi, my name is Elle King and I’m Fu* Hammered.” She also mocked the audience, “You all bought tickets for this nonsense? You’re not getting your money back.”

On Sunday, King posted a brief video of herself running up the stairs at an arena and captioned it, “Oh no, that was my human performance.” But what she wrote in the video directly addresses the consequences of her performance. “To everyone sending me love because I’m a human being and have already talked to Dolly,” she wrote. She also mentioned that some comments tell her to kill herself.

These messages came with a short video in which she is seen climbing stairs in an arena, possibly as part of an exercise routine. The message in the video is clear: She is health-conscious and in excellent shape.

Elle King Postponed her upcoming concert

King had postponed the dates of her January and February concerts for 8 months in the wake of the uproar that followed the mess she made in Parton’s tribute concert and cussed her way during the normally closed Opry broadcast.

There was speculation that perhaps she would apologize and announce that she had taken six weeks off from touring for treatment, as is tradition for stars caught in embarrassing moments while under the influence of alcohol. But, in keeping with the outlaw country image she has built up since Crossing the Rock, King has adopted a somewhat more insulting tone than expected, to the extent that she addressed it at all.
