James Gunn Wants to work with Grant Gustin

Grant Gustin‘s potential DC Universe future has received a promising update. Gustin led nine seasons of The Flash as Barry Allen, with his DC series responsible for ending the Arrowverse. While Gustin doesn’t have any DC projects in the future, fans keep asking for the actor to join the DCU’s upcoming films as the Flash, and now that’s becoming more possible.

When a fan asked Gunn (via Threads) about casting the actor as one of the DCU heroes, James Gunn responded, “Grant is an incredibly talented individual, now performing on Broadway. I believe in him, and his talent not going to be ruined just because he’s not in a DC project right now”. Not only that Gunn also expressed his desire to work with Grant in the future.

Which role can Grant Gust play in the DCU?

The simplest scenario for Gustin’s return would be for the actor to play Barry Allen once again. With reports that all of the DCU Justice League actors will be recast for the DCU and Ezra Miller‘s The Flash making a splash at the box office, the role appears to be wide open for another actor.

While Gustin as Barry Allen is an easy answer, it’s not the only role the actor can play. Taking a page from the Arrowverse’s The Flash, Gustin could appear in the DCU as the Jay Garrick version of the Flash, just like 1990s Flash actor John Wesley Shipp did in The Flash. Anything is possible, it’s entirely dependent on James Gunn’s vision of the DCU.
