HBO has announced a TV Series which will be a book ADAPTATION
On Tuesday, January 30, it was announced that HBO was developing a TV series adaptation of Dark Places, Gillian’s second book following her debut novel Sharp Objects, which was also adapted for TV by HBO in 2018 Which starred Amy Adams.
Like Gone Girl, the story presents another mystery thriller, and it has already been announced that Gillian will co-write the limited series with Brett Johnson and Guerrin Gardner.
What is the story of “DARK PLACES”?
The story will focus on Libby Day, a woman whose mother and two sisters were murdered when she was a young girl. She testified that his brother Ben was responsible, plotting the murder as part of a Satanic cult.
Several years later, the detectives visit Libby to learn more details about what happened. They do not believe Ben is guilty, but Libby is willing to revive the case and re-interrogate those involved in exchange for a price.
She retraces her steps and heals old wounds, but in doing so she finds herself the target of a mysterious killer. Also, read – Elmo of Sesame Street had become a Therapist and Gave a Healing touch to many People on X
Charlize Theron Starring “DARK PLACES”
If the premise has already caught your attention and you can’t wait to dive in, it might be worth checking out the film adaptation, released in 2015, beforehand.
The HBO adaptation will be the second, but the first was a film of the same name released in 2015 starring Christina Hendricks (Mad Men, The Stranger), Nicholas Hoult (Lex Luthor in Superman, X MEN, Mad Max) with Charlize Theron (Fast & Furious, Mad Max: Fury Road, Hancock), and Chloe Grace Moretz (Kick-Ass, The Equalizer, Tom and Jerry)
It received a lot of negative reviews from critics, currently holding a 23% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes with a 33% audience score.
The book is fantastic and the movie arguably fails to do it justice, so hopeful that HBO will provide the Justice needed.
