On Thursday morning Micheal Strahan’s daughter Isabella Strahan who is 19 years old and is a freshman at the University of Southern California sat down for an interview with Good Morning America where she shared her cancer diagnosis
Isabella Strahan thouught it was Vertigo
She said that she learned about her condition in late October. She started expressing symptoms like headaches, nausea, and difficulty in walking at the beginning of October month, while she was in her freshman year at the University of Southern California. She thought that she had Vertigo (a spinning sensation).
The condition became worse at the end of October mother nearly 25th of October when she woke up in the middle of the night and vomited Blood.
Michael Strahan understood the gravity of the situation and asked his daughter to go to the hospital for a Full Checkup. Isabella headed to Cedars Sinai Medical Centre in Los Angeles, California, where doctors discovered a 4-centimeter tumor in the backside of her brain after the MRI. They Diagnosed Isabella with Medulloblastoma.

What is Medulloblastoma?
Medulloblastoma is the most common type of brain tumor in children, that starts from the lower back of the brain. According to studies, it is a fast-growing tumor that often spreads to other areas of the Central Nervous System (brain and spinal cord) through Cerebrospinal Fluid ( Liquid that circulates around the surface of the brain and spinal cord)
The 5-year relative survival rate for medulloblastoma in children 14 years of age or younger is 72%. The 5-year relative survival rate for adolescents and young adults ages 15 to 39 is approximately 78%. The 5-year relative survival rate for people age 40 and older is 66%. according to information on cancer.net
Isabella Strahan will be getting the treatment as well as helping the Hospital
When the hospital informed Micheal Strahan about the 4-centimeter tumor in her daughter’s brain, he was in disbelief. He said, “ It didn’t feel real”. Isabella had an emergency Surgery and continued her treatment at Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke.
She said “ I got to ring the bell Yesterday, it was great. It had been a long 30 sessions six weeks.”
She will be starting her Chemotherapy and documenting her journey in a YouTube series that will benefit Duke Children’s Hospital & Health Centre.
