Lucknow: Gangster Sanjeev Maheshwari Jeeva, was shot dead outside a crowded courtroom on Wednesday. Sanjay was a comrade of don-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari, he has been found guilty of the murder of UP minister Brahma Dutt Dwivedi.

Besides that, Sanjeev has 24 criminal cases against him that include 5 murder cases. In 2003 he was given a life sentence by the high court for Dwivedi’s murder, he was also accused in the 2005 murder case of Krishnnand Rai a BJP MLA.

Vijay Yadav shooter who dress as a lawyer, told cops that he given a job by an unknown person to kill Sanjeev for a pay of Rs 20 Lakhs. They unknown person promised to deliver the sum after the work is done.

Sanjeev,48 was being taken to court to attend a hearing attempt to murder case of 2015, When Vijay dressed as a lawyer shot five to six rounds at him with a semi-automatic pistol, he was taken to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

Two constables and an 18 years month old girl present at the spot also sustained bullet injuries. Out of them the toddler was said to be in critical condition as the bullet punctured one of her lungs, she is getting treatment in KGMU’s trauma Centre.

The lawyers in the courtroom grabbed Vijay and thrashed him, before handing him over to police. Police said that they are not able to have a full interrogation of Vijay as he was taken to hospital after being assaulted by the lawyers. But he told that he was given an offer of Rs 20 Lakhs to kill Sanjeev. He didn’t Identify the person who gave him the offer. Police in now in search of the unknown person.

Vijay was working in a company in Maharashtra but lost his job and return to Lucknow. He is facing a charge of Covid-19 norms violation and a charge under the POSCO Act for raping a minor in Azamg.

After the court shooting incident, the lawyers start a protest for increasing the security of court premises. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath constituted a three-member committee that include the director general of police, IG, and commissioner of police to discuss the security lapse that led to the shooting incident.

Lawyers have blamed the police for poor security arrangements inside the court, they also alleged the policemen escorting the gangster flee the scene and it was the layers who had to catch the assailant.

Senior Police and administration officials reached the spot to settle the matter but the protesting lawyers damaged a few vehicles and a stone thrown by one of them hit an ACP rank officer.
