A month after Brazilian police launched an investigation, the cause of death of late Taylor Swift fan Ana Clara Benevides Machado.
According to a report from the Rio Forensic Medical Institute obtained by The Associated Press on Wednesday, December 27, Machado died of “heat exhaustion.” Machado had “no prior history of problems or substance abuse” which could have been a contributing factor. But “exposure to heat resulted in cardiorespiratory arrest.”
Machado died at the age of 23 on November 17, before Swift’s Eraz Tour show in Rio de Janeiro.
Taylor Swift spoke out after learning about her fan’s death.
“I can’t believe I’m writing these words, but it is with a broken heart that I say we lost a fan before my show tonight,” Swift shared via Instagram Stories at the time. ” “I can’t even explain how devastated I am by this. “I have very little information other than the fact that she was incredibly beautiful and very young.”
Taylor Swift further said that she was “overwhelmed with grief”. Apparently, she honored Machado by performing “Bigger Than the Whole Sky” from his Midnights album as one of the concert’s surprise acoustic songs.
“I want to say now that I am deeply saddened by this loss and my broken heart goes out to his family and friends,” she said in a statement. “This is the last thing I thought about when we decided to go to Brazil.” ,
Concert organizer Time4Fun confirmed Machado’s death in a statement shared by Machado’s father, Weiny Machado, who later remembered his late daughter as “a happy and intelligent girl”.
“She was going to save money and graduate in psychology next April,” he told local newspaper Folha de Sao Paulo. “I have no words to express my pain. She left home to fulfill a dream and came back dead.”

NBC News reported late last month that Brazilian police had launched an investigation into Time4Fun. A spokesperson shared that authorities are investigating “the crime of endangering the life and health” of people attending the Eras Tour during the extreme heat wave.
“The organizers of the event will be called to testify and other measures are being taken to investigate the incidents,” the spokesperson said.
After the incident made headlines, Time4Fun CEO Serafim Abreu apologized to Swift’s fans.
He said, “We know how huge a responsibility we have in organizing an event of this scale, which is why we make every effort to follow the global best practices of our industry to ensure the comfort and safety of everyone.” And he said “alternative measures” could have been taken to ensure the safety of concertgoers.
