“I love you 1,000%, and I’ll never stop believing it,” Gerry tells Theresa, working callback lines about the couple’s romantic high points. “Every day, I choose you.”
As the wind blows through his sun-kissed hair, Gerry opens the bachelor’s biggest deal, Neil Lane’s ring box, revealing a platinum engagement ring with a princess-cut diamond.
“Will you marry me?” Gerry asks.
Of course, with Theresa in a sequin dress, the answer is not just yes, but “Yes!” There is also a dizzy cry. Yeah!”

How did it go wrong for Leslie? why Gerry not choose Leslie?
She captivated Gerry from the first moments. He and Gerry share the same sense of humor and passionately wander the streets of Minneapolis during the week of his hometown tour. Gerry also told her she was “the one” during Fantasy Suits week in Costa Rica.

“I was a little scared,” Leslie told them of Gerry’s “till death do us part” scenario. The alternative might well have been a foregone conclusion. Gerry was already very withdrawn. That he has left behind the love he used to have with Leslie.
“I love you so much,” Leslie tells him.
“It’s a special feeling,” Gerry replies. And then: “I can’t.” This is not what you want to hear.

After escaping and shedding a few lonely tears on the concrete stairs outside Leslie hotel suite, Gerry feels like he’ll have a clean moment by reappearing at Leslie’s doorstep. After confirming that Theresa is his final choice, the conversation does not go well. She is devastated.
Leslie cries, “So everything you told me last night was a lie.”
“At the time, that was the truth. Things have changed; things have evolved,” Gerry replies.
There are more Kleenex tears and sobs. It is a painful and sad farewell.
During the “After the Final Rose” meeting between the two, Leslie remembers her devastation after seeing Gerry move on.
Leslie says, “I picked out a dress, blue like your eyes. I wrote my vows. It was the happiest day of my life, except the day I thought he was coming.”
At the hotel, Gerry faints and cries in the supportive arms of host Jesse Palmer. He finally utters the line we’ve all seen time and time again in countless promos that actors may deliver at future film auditions: “I think the only time I felt bad in my entire life was when my wife passed away,” said Gerry. He laments through tears. “And this was a very close second.”

However, despite these challenges, he never completely lost hope and ultimately became The Golden Bachelor, looking for a second chance at love.
