Original Story of Napoleon Bonaparte
Napoleon Bonaparte (1769–1821), also known as Napoleon I, was a French military leader and emperor who conquered much of Europe at the beginning of the 19th century. He was killed on the island of Corsica, ascended rapidly into the army during the French Revolution (1789–1799). After taking political power in France through a coup d’état in 1799, he was crowned emperor in 1804.
Intelligent, ambitious, and a skilled military strategist, Napoleon successfully waged war against various coalitions of European countries and expanded his empire. However, after the disastrous French invasion of Russia in 1812, Napoleon abdicated the throne two years later and was exiled to the island of Elba. In 1815, he briefly returned to power in his Campaign of the Hundred Days. After the crushing defeat at the Battle of Waterloo, he once again abdicated the throne and was exiled to the remote island of St. Helena, where he died at the age of 51.
