Britney Spears revealed why she shave her head in 2007
Britney Spears’ new memoir, The Woman in Me, has several surprising revelations about the pop star’s life, and in a preview of the book, Spears revealed what caused her to shave her head in 2007.
Many people remember the news coverage when Spears shaved her head with a razor and got rid of her trademark long hair. But until now, Spears has never given her side of the story as to why she did it.
In an excerpt from the book, Spears describes how unhappy she was at the time, writing, “I was looked at a lot of times growing up. I was looked at from top to bottom, people told me that they What I thought about the body. Since I was a teenager.”
“Shaving my head and acting were my ways of withdrawing,” she said, adding that she had gotten rid of her hair in an attempt to regain some degree of control.
But according to Spears, it didn’t work out, and she continued: “But under tutelage they made me realize those days were over. I had to grow my hair out and get back in shape. I had to go.” Go to sleep early and take whatever medicine they told me.”
The incident in which Spears shaved her head occurred amid rehab visits while she was divorcing her husband Kevin Federline. The singer reportedly went to Esther’s Hair Studio and asked its owner, Esther Tognozzi, to cut her hair. When Tognozzi refused, Spears grabbed a nearby razor and did the job herself.
Shortly after, in 2008, Spears’ father, Jamie Spears, became her legal guardian, and it was not until 2021 that the conservatorship was officially finalized in court.
