On his X account, Harsha Bhogle published an old Doordarshan invitation document. “40 years ago today, my first ODI,” he inscribed underneath it. I can still recall the young man who was searching frantically for a chance. After that, a talented producer from DD-Hyderabad provided him this chance. He raised the curtain the night before the game while wearing a plain T-shirt, and the following day he received two commentary gigs. I got the chance to commentate in two games over the course of the following 14 months (an ODI and a Test). I’ll be thankful for this forever.
